James I. Montgomery, Jr. is senior counsel at the firm. He is a civil
litigation trial lawyer with over thirty-four years of litigation
experience in the practice areas of civil trial and appellate law,
insurance defense, products liability, and commercial law. Mr.
Montgomery is a former partner of a prominent insurance and commercial
law defense firm.
Mr. Montgomery specializes in the analysis, negotiation and defense of
civil litigation matters including automobile accidents, premises
liability, construction defects, land subsidence, landlord-tenant
habitability, toxic torts, construction accidents, personal injury,
professional liability, products liability and major losses. His
insurance defense experience includes cases arising out of commercial,
homeowners and automobile policies.
Mr. Montgomery’s representative clients include QBE Insurance Company,
Clarendon National Insurance Company, Adventist Risk Management, Inc.,
North American Risk Services, and York Insurance Services Group, Inc.
Mr. Montgomery also has a significant amount of trial experience with a
high success rate. Notably, Mr. Montgomery was called upon by a client
to replace ineffective counsel in a wrongful death action just prior to

with a terminating sanction order. Despite the obstacles, Mr. Montgomery
was successful in achieving a defense verdict for the client.

1981 and is admitted to practice in all courts in the State of California. He is President of the African American Insurance Professionals
Foundation; former president of the John M. Langston Bar Association; a
member of the National Bar Association; and a member
of the Association of Southern California Defense Counsel, and a member of Claims and Litigation Management Alliance. Mr.
Montgomery is listed in Strathmore’s Who’s Who.
Mr. Montgomery earned his Juris Doctorate degree from the University of
